Christian Remick/Remeth,Ramay b1621 Holland or England - d Kittery,York,ME - m1655 Hannah Foster b1633 - Remick Christian, of Kittery, freeman in 1652. In Maine and New Hampshire this name is diffus. and on Cape Cod, probably as descendants are seen in each direction b1633 (Genealogical Dictionary of New England Settlers, V3,p523) Christian Remick/Remeth/Ramay; Planter, Kittery, took oath of allegiance to Mass. govt. 16 Nov. 1652. Gave land to his son Isaac 16 Oct. 1686, and 20 June, 1691, sons Jacob and Joshua witnessing the deeds; they also witnessed that of same date in which Abraham, another son, surrendered any claim he might have. He made a conditional deed to his son Joshua 18 Oct. 1693, and another, dated the one and thirtieth day of April,1703, wife Hannah joining. (Maine Pioneers, 1623-60) CHRISTIAN REMICK came from England or from Holland. He was born in 1631 and was living at Kittery 24 Jan. 1715. He signed the submission to Massachusetts in 1652. He settled on Eliot Neck, where he had a grant of fifty-two acres confirmed by the town, 8 April 1651. Six later grants are recorded. His house stood near the river, not far from the present school-house. He was a planter and surveyor and was often one of the selectmen and Treasurer of the town. Christian REMICK was a proprietor of old Kittery, and when the common lands of Kittery and Berwick were divided, about 1750, his grandson, Nathaniel Remick, received several hundred acres.(Old Kittery and Her Families, 677) Christian served as selectman of Kittery 1670-1673, 1676, and 1688. One of a special committee appointed to instruct Kitterys Deputy to the General Court of the Colony of Massachusetts Bay in 1673, and the Representative to the General Court of the Province of Massachusetts in 1692.
